The Saratoga Summer Packing List
There is nothing quite like a Saratoga summer. The energy of the track, the charm of the historic downtown, and the endless string of garden parties and evening dinners make it one of my favorite places to spend July and August.
But packing for a travel destination that requires you to transition seamlessly from a sweltering afternoon in the grandstand to a crisp, elegant evening out can be a challenge. Over the years, I’ve perfected my packing formula. I believe in taking fewer pieces, but making sure they are the right pieces.
Here is what is always in my signature croc tote when I head upstate:
1. The "One-and-Done" Co-ord Set I am a huge advocate for a matching set, like our Saratoga Rose Two-Piece. It takes zero brainpower to put together in the morning, but it looks incredibly intentional and polished.
2. The Lightweight Hero Layer The temperature drops as soon as the sun goes down over the Adirondacks. A beautifully tailored blazer is non-negotiable. I love draping it over my shoulders during an al fresco dinner—it adds an instant touch of heritage luxury.
3. Statement Hardware I never pack my heavy, precious jewelry for travel. Instead, I rely on bold, equestrian-inspired pieces. A mixed-metal lariat or a classic bit necklace instantly nods to the racing culture without feeling overly thematic.
Remember, as I always say: Life is too short for boring outfits, bad champagne, or uninspired spaces. Pack the pieces that make you feel fabulous, and leave the practical (but boring) shoes at home
