Setting the Perfect Table for Sunday Brunch
To me, entertaining is never about showing off—it’s about creating a space where the people you love feel completely taken care of. And my absolute favorite way to gather is a Sunday champagne brunch.
You don’t need a caterer or a massive dining room to host beautifully. You just need a little bit of intention. Here is my formula for a memorable, effortlessly chic Sunday table.
1. Crisp, Neutral Foundations I always start with a clean canvas. A crisp white linen tablecloth or oversized linen runners give the table an elevated, restaurant-quality feel. I skip the heavily patterned plates and let the food and the florals provide the color.
2. Low, Lush Florals There is a cardinal rule in my house: the centerpieces can never block the conversation. I love buying three bunches of grocery store hydrangeas or white tulips, cutting them very short, and placing them in small, mismatched glass votives down the center of the table. It looks expensive but takes five minutes.
3. The Ambience Scent and sound are just as important as the table setting. I always have a chilled bottle of champagne ready the moment guests walk in. I put on a playlist of French acoustic café music, and I burn a beautifully scented candle in the entryway—never on the dining table, so it doesn't compete with the food.
Entertaining should feel joyful, not stressful. Pour the good champagne, use the cloth napkins, and enjoy your own party!
